This year ULS is participating in a number of community service projects with Blue Zones. Blue Zones is a community outreach program that works with local schools and businesses to bring awareness to things like healthy living and healthy habits. Blue Zones focuses on self-awareness by promoting proper diet, exercise and social emotional health, and on social awareness by sponsoring events that support the greater community.
ULS is proud to participate in the first community event, “Serve in September,” which focuses on those that serve or have served our community in times of need. In elementary and social studies classes students learned about the importance of first responders and their self-sacrifice in helping others. Then they worked on writing letters, drawing pictures or making posters for a very important group of first responders, fire fighters. These letters, pictures and posters are a reflection of ULS’s efforts to show appreciation and kindness to others. Later this week, all of the things that were made will be delivered to fire stations in our surrounding school community.
A big MAHALO to all of the students and teachers who helped make this a success. Looking forward to seeing more kindness and community service this school year. Go Jr. Bows!
