On Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at our school’s end of Fall Semester Assembly, we said Mahalo to Dr. Donald Young, the Dean of the College of Education for an amazing career in education and best wishes in the next phase of his life – retirement.
Dr. Young has been an instrumental part of our Lab School ʻohana and leadership for nearly 50 years. He has been with University of Hawaii, College of Education, ULS, and CRDG since 1971 – as a teacher, researcher, curriculum developer, teacher trainer, and administrator.
In 1998, Dr. Young became associate director of CRDG, and in 2003 took on the role of director. In these CRDG leadership roles, Dr. Young helped ULS transition into our current form and vision.
Dr. Young has served as the Dean of the UH College of Education since 2012.
On behalf of the University Laboratory School community of students, parents, teachers, staff, and our Governing Board, Dr. Young we wish you well and say thank you. You are very much appreciated and we will deeply miss you! Mahalo for all that you have done.
