Re: Emergency Update: Hurricane Lane
Aloha ULS Families,
As you are aware, our state is currently on a “hurricane watch” as Hurricane Lane continues to move towards our state. A “hurricane watch” means that hurricane conditions are possible within 48 hours, meaning that the state can see the effects of the hurricane as early as Wednesday evening, August 22, 2018.
In light of this emergent situation, 2 ULS events will be cancelled this week and both will be scheduled at a later date:
ULS athletic teams will cancel all practices from Wednesday, August 22, 2018 until further notice.
The ILH is announcing that all scheduled league events for fall season sports as of Wednesday, August 22, 2018 are canceled for the rest of this week.
If your child is participating in a community after school program, please contact the program directly to see if they are providing services during this period.
As safety and well-being for all is the primary concern, we will be following the news updates as to the progress of this natural emergency. Should the “hurricane watch” be elevated to “hurricane warning”, ULS will be taking the same precautions as every other state and county agency.
As noted in our ULS Parent and Student Handbook, ULS will follow through with the Crisis Plan Protocol outlined on Page 37. Please keep your radio tuned to KSSK FM 92.3 or KSSK AM 590 or local TV stations for updates as to school closure.
We ask that everyone take the safety precautions outlined for your home/household. We hope that everyone remains well and in safe-keeping.
